Welcome
Hi I’m Margaret Dawson . I love wool. It’s a great fibre and it keeps us warm and provides me with hours of fun.
How lucky I am that I live in New Zealand where nearly everyone farms sheep and I get to use the wool. I make felt into lovely scarves and hats and wall hangings.
I came to felt making late in life after I retired from the clothing industry in 1999. My husband Steve and I came to live in Cheviot on 11 acres in the country surrounded by farm land with a view to the mountains.
I have a shed full of wool, there’s polwarth, romney, english leicester, corriedale, merino and halfbred, all naturally coloured. I get my white wool from our neighbour who farms corriedales. I dye this wool for balls and hats and little bits on my art. Check out sheep story and meet my ewes and lambs, past and present.
Are you a returning customer? Did I meet you at my market stall in Cheviot, New Zealand? Then, doubly welcome. Have a look in market and see if your picture is there.
